       Friday night -
The Mannish Boys
                 Saturday -
Koko Taylor
                 Sunday -
Elvin Bishop

I
t is with great sadness that we report
on the passing of the

Queen of the Blues,
Koko Taylor
,
in June 2009 fro
m complications
after surgery in May.
Our condolences go out to her family
and legion of friends and admirers.

Koko Taylor
and her Blues Machine
...
graced the Riverfront Blues Festival stage in 2008,
and they were OUTSTANDING!
The 6 1/2 minute ditty above is of her opening number,
"Let the Good Times Roll,"
and roll they did as the Queen put on a memorable show for all.
The video is a 26 meg. download, just a short time for those with high-speed connections, longer for others, but worth the wait.
Just hit the PLAY button above to begin--and be patient.  It WILL load

THANKS for the memories, Koko.
And they are many.

And like the lady sings above,
and when our mourning is done,

"
Hey everybody--let's have some fun.
    You only live once,
and when you're dead, you're done.
So Let the Good Times Roll!
"

And then there was Sunday...which began with monsoon-like rain, wind and hail.  The stage crew,
to their commendation, worked HARD all morning to get all of the electronics and stage dried-out
so a safe show could commence.  And, only an hour later than scheduled, the party began again
under sunny skies...for a while...

Opening Sunday's festivities was
Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers...
