It is with great sadness that we report
on the passing of the
Queen of the Blues,
Koko Taylor,
in June 2009 from complications
after surgery in May.
Our condolences go out to her family
and legion of friends and admirers.

graced the Riverfront Blues Festival stage in 2008,
and they were OUTSTANDING!
The 6 1/2 minute ditty above is of her opening number,

and roll they did as the Queen put on a memorable show for all.

on hand doing a feature on

The feature was to air sometime in Sept.!!

Then Gary Alligretto & the Delaware All-Stars hit the stage...

And closing out Friday night it was The Mannish Boys...

After some morning rains, Saturday dawned bright and sunny...and first up was
        Anson Funderburgh & the Rockets with James Harman

Next up was the incredible Michael Burks...

Followed by Sharrie Williams & the Wise Guys...

Then guitar virtuoso Larry McCray...

Next it was "King of the Slide," that incredible "Slide Slinger," the one and only
                     Lil Ed & the Blues Imperials...

Headlining the Festival Saturday was Blues legend
and Queen of the Blues

and her
Blues Machine...
and they were OUTSTANDING!

And then there was Sunday...which began with monsoon-like rain, wind and hail. The stage crew,
to their commendation, worked HARD all morning to get all of the electronics and stage dried-out
so a safe show could commence. And, only an hour later than scheduled, the party began again
under sunny skies...for a while...

Opening Sunday's festivities was Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers...

And as we continued to keep our fingers crossed that the
weather would hold, Sugar Blue took the stage...

Then,
as the skies
began to darken,
Elvin Bishop, the
festival's last artist,
took the stage...

It was
an Outstanding
Weekend of
the Blues...
'till next year...
when we'll all get together
and do it again!!
